something similar

Maisara
Banda Aceh, Indonesia

On December 26, 2004, an undersea earthquake off the island of Sumatra resulted in a tsunami that caused the deaths of 232,000 people. More than two-thirds, approximately 169,000, came from the Indonesian province of Aceh.

Maisara had led a comfortable life with her husband and three daughters. Within an hour, almost everything that she loved would be swept away by the sea, including her family. She was rescued by a Javanese policeman.
